** About Us **
The Beaufort-Delta Health and Social Services Authority (BDHSSA) encompasses the northern portion of the Northwest Territories, Canada. The BDHSSA is one of eight health authorities in the Territory and serves 8 communities: Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Inuvik, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour, Tsiigehtchic, Tuktoyaktuk, and Ulukhaktok.
Services and programs are delivered through community clinics and the Inuvik Regional Hospital. The administrative centre for the Authority is also located in Inuvik, which is the largest of the region’s communities with a population of approximately 3,600 residents.

History Of Beaufort Delta Health and Social Services Authority
** History **
Prior to becoming a Board, the organization was operated by the Government of Canada. In 1988 responsibility for health and social services was transferred to the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Department of Health and Social Services is responsible for administering 28 pieces of territorial legislation.

Hospital History
January 13, 1961 - Inuvik General Hospital opened its doors and became the only Canadian hospital north of the Arctic Circle, the name later changed to the Inuvik Regional Hospital
April 27, 2003 - services began out of the new Inuvik Regional Hospital facility
