  Job Description :   
The Patient Safety Coordinator is responsible to plan, implement and coordinate an integrated Patient
Safety Strategy for the Interlake Regional Health Authority (IRHA), with an emphasis on
implementation of best practices for reducing preventable injuires to patients. Reporting to the Risk
Manager, leadership activities with a focus on learning and the promotion of a culture of safety will be
required. This includes prospective and retrospective analysis, monitoring of patient safety indicators
and reporting activities as required. The position involves working closely with the Risk Manager and
Continuous Improvement Manager, regional managers and staff, patients and the public, as well as with
external patient safety partners. The position functions in accordance with the IRHA's mission, goals,
objectives, policies and procedures and any applicable legislation.
