Occupational Therapist (09025E)
Initial Assignment: Dual Diagnosis Resource Service

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Manager and working as a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide innovative inpatient and outpatient specialized/ tertiary services to individuals with a dual diagnosis (developmental disability and mental health needs) on a time-limited basis. Working within a continuity of care model, the Occupational Therapist will use a biopsychosocial approach and encompass the components of self care, productivity and leisure. Along with clinical team members, the Occupational Therapist will provide outreach, treatment, rehabilitation, support and consultation to help maintain the client in the community at their highest level of function. The Occupational Therapist will work with other community stakeholders to facilitate integration of the client into established community based programs and/or to establish supports for clients in their communities. This position is located at 501 Queen Street West as well as 1001 Queen Street West.

QUALIFICATION:
The successful candidate will be certified and a member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists; and have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, serious mental illness and/or dual diagnosis. Knowledge of community resources; experience in providing consultation and staff training, along with an appreciation of systems issues an asset. Experience with the forensic system, negotiating service systems, transitioning clients between institution and community settings is also an asset. You possess excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and are computer competent. Consistent access to a vehicle is required. The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is an asset. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Please Note: This full-time, 7-month temporary position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $25.92 - $37.49 per hour
