Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has once again been ranked among the nation’s top pediatric hospitals by U.S.News & World Report. The 2009 edition of “ America's Best Children’s Hospitals” is published online at www.usnews.com/childrenshospitals.
Two specialty areas at Children’s are ranked among the top 10 in the nation—orthopaedics (No. 5) and heart/heart surgery (No. 7). In addition, four specialty areas at Children’s ranked among the top 20 in the nation—cancer (No. 12), digestive disorders (No. 12), respiratory disorders (No. 17) and urology (No. 18).
The 2009 edition of “America 's Best Children's Hospitals” is the most extensive listing of its kind. Hospitals are ranked in 10 specialty areas—including: cancer, diabetes and endocrine disorders, digestive disorders, heart and heart surgery, kidney disorders, neonatal care, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, respiratory disorders and urology.
The methodology behind this year’s rankings weighed a three-part blend of reputation, outcome and care-related measures, such as nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing and other factors. Nearly 100 pediatric facilities responded to the 65-page survey, which asked for detailed data and statistics. Click here for a detailed description of the methodology.
Children’s also has been recognized by Parents magazine as one of the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the country. As a not-for-profit organization, Children’s provided more than $103 million in unreimbursed care in 2008. Children’s offers access to more than 30 pediatric specialties and is committed to enhancing the lives of children through excellence in patient care, research and education.
