| Dr. Patel, Endocrinologist, Launches Institute of Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders at Huguley |

Imran Patel, M.D., an endocrinologist, will open the Institute of Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders at Huguley on June 22. Dr. Patel has extensive training in glandular conditions including diabetes, thyroid disorders, metabolic disorders, male reproductive health, and abnormal production of hormones.
Dr. Patel has ten years’ experience as an endocrinologist, most recently with John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. He performs procedures including insulin pump therapy and fine needle aspiration of the thyroid, and he has a special interest in calcium and lipid disorders.
Along with patient care, Dr. Patel’s career has included research and teaching. Dr. Patel worked on the landmark diabetes prevention study with world-renowned endocrinologist Dr. Abbas Kitabchi at the University of Tennessee. Also, Dr. Patel was the principal sub investigator in a study of growth hormone deficiency in adults. He has been an instructor of medical residents and students.
Dr. Patel was given the best resident award during his internal medicine residency at Hurley Medical Center, Michigan State University in Flint, Michigan. He completed a two-year fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, then continued for additional training in metabolic bone diseases and lipid disorders.
A member of The Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Dr. Patel is frequently invited to speak at medical conferences. Most recently, he conducted a seminar on the latest advances of osteoporosis treatment in Lubbock, Texas. He is board certified in internal medicine and is board eligible in endocrinology.

Dr. Patel has joined Huguley Medical Associates, the fastest growing physician group in Johnson County.
