Dear Jamestown City Council Members,
The community of Jamestown has enjoyed a long history high quality medical care provided by dedicated physicians and staff. As a direct result of the challenges and limitations of the healthcare system nationally, our ability to provide a high-quality, stable healthcare system locally has become much more difficult.
There is a significant shortage of physicians nationally, and this is projected to worsen as the Baby-Boom Generation enters retirement. In recent years, we have experienced increased difficulty in recruiting and retaining high-quality physicians. This has forced us to consider ways in which we may become more competitive in bringing doctors to Jamestown - and keeping them here.
I feel it is critical for the Jamestown Hospital to proceed with construction to help us to provide the highest quality of medical care in a state-of-the-art facility. Such a facility will be beneficial in attracting physicians to Jamestown and ultimately, in stabilizing our local healthcare system.
Furthermore, I feel it is important that we build a facility to fit our needs rather than to fit a space. The facility should be designed to allow for the efficient delivery of healthcare to the citizens of the Jamestown area. Moreover, there needs to be room for expansion given the unknown space requirements for the medical technology of the future.
I am supportive of Jamestown Hospitals’ plan for the design and location of a new state of the art facility.
As a member of the medical staff of Jamestown Hospital, I would appreciate any public support to help to hospital achieve it’s vision of being the “best rural hospital in the United States.” |
