Paintings by cancer survivors on display in hospital Atrium through Friday, November 14
Metairie, LA – East Jefferson General Hospital hosts the 2006 Lilly Oncology on Canvas art exhibit this week and honors the journeys traveled by millions of people affected by cancer worldwide. This traveling exhibit showcases pieces of art from the 2006 Lilly Oncology on Canvas art competition. The art is now on display in EJGH Atrium and is open to the public through Friday, November 14.
Lilly Oncology on Canvas is a biennial art competition, founded in 2004, that invites people diagnosed with any type of cancer, their family and friends, and healthcare providers to express, through art and in narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journey meaning. Lilly Oncology on Canvas is presented by Eli Lilly and Company, a leader in cancer research and treatment.
“The Lilly Oncology on Canvas art exhibit is a wonderful representation of the different emotions a cancer patient may feel upon diagnosis, throughout treatment and hopefully into survivorship,” says John Sartori, EJGH spokesman. “We are proud to host this art exhibit. It allows us to promote and celebrate survivorship.”
The exhibit includes art in the media of acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, watercolor and mixed media. This special collection is unique and touching and affords people throughout the world the opportunity to view the universal range of emotions of a cancer journey, such as fear, hope, sorrow, relief and courage.
