Sang-ick Chang, MD Appointed Chief Medical Officer

A noted leader in healthcare, Dr.Sang-ick Chang has been appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Alameda County Medical Center effective April 20, 2009.
Chang brings 20 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge in hospital and medical affairs. Additionally, he has served in a number of health care organizations including, Southern Inyo District Hospital, San Francisco Public Health Department, and the San Mateo County Medical Center where he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer.
AS CMO, Dr. Chang will provide senior executive leadership to the Medical Staff and Hospital Administration ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of quality medical care consistent with ACMC's mission, and the vision of the Board of Trustees. "Alameda County Medical Center has a long and distinguished record of patient care, medical education, research and community service. I look forward to working with colleagues at ACMC to build upon this history," says Dr. Chang. Reporting to Wright Lassiter, III, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Chang is also charged with the coordination and integration of the clinical care process across all six campuses at the medical center.
"Sang-ick's exceptional background as a medical provider and broad experience as a physician executive makes him uniquely qualified for this position, " says Lassiter. "Dr. Chang has continually shown excellent leadership and a commitment to the mission of making health care accessible to all."
Chang graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 1982 and earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1987, subsequently completing a residency in family practice. Dr. Chang completed a physician leadership program fellowship with the National Association of Public Hospitals, as well as a fellowship with the California Health Care Leadership Program of the California Health Care Foundation.
