History Of Vista Health
** A Brief History **
The doors of Vista Health Fayetteville were opened over 25 years ago in April of 1983. The facility was the first private freestanding behavioral health hospital in the state of Arkansas.
In 1988 the Fort Smith satellite outpatient center was opened and in 1998 an additional outpatient center was opened in Harrison, Arkansas.
In June of 2003 the acquisition of Harborview Hospital in Fort Smith was completed and renamed Vista Health Fort Smith. This facility now also houses the Fort Smith outpatient center.
Our Fayetteville facility contains 92 beds and our Fort Smith facility contains 57 beds. Both sister facilities treat adults, adolescents and children in separate programs on each campus.
Vista Health also has Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) centers located in Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Harrison and Texarkana, Arkansas.
Vista continues to identify underserved areas to try and allow inpatient stays be as close to home as possible.
