History Of Kanabec Hospital

Established in 1945, the hospital's primary market is to those in Kanabec, Pine, Aitkin, Isanti, and Mille Lacs counties. Kanabec Hospital has undergone several expansions throughout the years. The 2003 expansion was the largest and most extensive. That expansion doubled the size of the hospital campus.

The 2006-07 expansion added another 21,337 square feet of service space. A new high-tech surgery suite located on the second floor totals 18,000 square feet. The new space includes 4 spacious state-of-the-art operating rooms, 15 private pre/post-op rooms, 4 high-tech recovery rooms, 2 pediatric post-op rooms and 2 large procedure rooms. In addition to providing the latest in surgical technology and comfort to patients, the new surgery suite allows Kanabec Hospital to continue to expand its surgical services.

Kanabec Hospital's Rehabilitation Therapy department received a complete remodel and upgrade with the addition of over 2,000 square feet. There are seven more treatment rooms, for a total of 11. More room was also provided for cardiac rehab, occupational therapy and physical therapy. In addition, the waiting area is much larger and more comfortable, and reception and registration provide increased patient privacy.
