About Brigham City Community Hosp

Stewardship, Support and Community Involvement

The hospital’s financial operation is sound and we are confident in our future. We take seriously our mission to provide quality healthcare to those we serve. We are absolutely committed to our mission by providing compassionate care in a healing environment. Brigham City Community Hospital committed to over $1.6 million in new equipment and technology in 2006. This will help us accomplish our mission with greater efficiency and resolve.

Capital expenditures of nearly $1,600,923 included patient safety initiatives, equipment upgrades for the Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical units, obstetrics and imaging equipment. We also understand what it means to be good corporate citizens. As we continue our tradition of serving the community, and as Box Elder County’s only tax-paying hospital, we are proud of our record of providing charitable care to the needy, ensuring stable employment and meeting our public tax obligations.

We remain firmly grounded in our mission statement: “Our mission is to meet or exceed the expectations of those we serve by providing compassionate, quality, cost-effective health services

History Of Brigham City Community Hosp

** OUR HISTORY **

Brigham City Community Hospital celebrated its 25th anniversary in July 2001. To commemorate that event, a history of the hospital, titled "Stitches in Time," was prepared by local author Sarah Yates. She described more than 150 years of people caring for one another, midwives assisting in childbirth, and treating illnesses with tonics, herbs and common household solutions.

Numerous hospitals opened in Brigham City between 1906 and the early 1920s, when Dr. A.D. Cooley converted a home at Fourth South and Main into a hospital. Bushnell General Hospital, operated by the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, had a role in developing penicillin and was well known for treating and rehabilitating amputees and blind patients. Dr. Cooley opened Cooley Memorial Hospital in 1935. The Call family purchased the hospital in 1946 and operated it as the only acute care facility in Brigham City until July 1976, when patients and staff transferred to the newly completed Brigham City Community Hospital, built by parent corporation HCA.

Dr. Thomas F. Frist, HCA founder, met with local physicians earlier in 1974 to review hospital plans. Groundbreaking for the 50,000 square foot facility was held the following year. Twenty-five acres of land were then transformed from pasture to a $4.5 million medical care facility. Throughout its ownership, HCA has remained committed to ensuring that quality medical care is provided to the residents of Northern Utah in modern facilities.

In return Brigham City Community Hospital has contributed millions of dollars in direct financial benefit to the community, as reflected in local, state and federal taxes paid, salaries and wages, capital funds reinvested, charitable contributions, uncompensated care, public service, volunteer hours and scholarships to local students who pursue advanced degrees in the healthcare professions.

Dedicated physicians, employees, and volunteers provide personalized, compassionate care. Today, the hospital is part of the six-hospital MountainStar Healthcare network in Utah, all of which are owned and operated by HCA. Brigham City Community Hospital is proud to serve its community.
