| Director of Nursing Awards 2009 winners announced |

On Wednesday 15 July, nursing director, Donna Green presented the prizes for the Director of Nursing Awards for Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The awards ceremony was held at Sherfield School in Sherfield on Loddon, Basingstoke with special guests the Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke and Deane, the Rotary Club of Basingstoke Deane and the Daniels family. Dr Hilary Jones was the special guest speaker on the evening.
Donna Green, said, “We have been absolutely delighted with the response to these awards, now in their fourth year. We received 140 nominations from patients and the general public. The awards again have allowed us all to recognise the hard work, achievements and significant contribution nursing and midwifery staff make to the care of patients. We had a wonderful evening and are proud of the high quality services provided by our staff here at Basingstoke.”
The winners for the category of individual nurse / midwife / HCA and nursing / midwifery team for each clinical division were:
Individual nurse/midwife / HCA
Elective division - Alicia Sabio, Staff Nurse, Intensive care unit
Emergency division – Mandy Bayliss, Sister, Coronary care unit
Maternal and child health division – Lynette Williams, community midwife
Nursing or midwifery team
Elective division - Breast care nursing team
Emergency division – Isolation ward nursing team
Maternal and child health division – Paediatric theatre and recovery team
The first Ann Daniels memorial award was presented by her son, John Daniels to Alicia Sabio, who was selected from all the individual and team winners by the Daniels family.
In addition to the divisional awards, there was an overall winner who was presented with a rose bowl from the Rotary Club of Basingstoke Deane. The Isolation ward nursing team were presented with this award having been selected from all the individual and team winners.
