Derby Hospitals has today launched its new vision for the future of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals, setting out how it will deliver the best possible care and experience for patients.
Director of Nursing Em Wilkinson-Brice said, "We are very proud of our brand new hospital and in order to make this a truly great hospital, we must focus on fostering right attitudes and behaviours as well as giving the very best care of to our patients"
Senior professionals from Nursing, Midwifery and AHP (Allied Health Professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, radiographers, orthotists) have each developed their own plan, setting out what they want to achieve in the next three years.
Each Vision encompasses five key perspectives, all very clearly aligned:
Putting patients first
Right first time
Investing our resources wisely
Developing our people, and
Ensuring value through partnerships
As part of this vision the hospital has been working with the community to develop a new welcoming image which clearly shows how the hospital and its staff Take Pride in Caring, by putting patients at the heart of everything they do.
In January 2009, a consultation with patients, staff, visitors and community groups and other healthcare professionals from across the community took place. The objective was to ensure that the Trust's new image was meaningful to patients and the public.
95% of those surveyed said that Derby Hospitals had achieved their objective with a strong patient focus that shows they Take Pride in Caring. Frequent positive comments included "Very eye catching" and "Bright, modern and cheerful".
Em Wilkinson-Brice continued, "Plan, strategy, direction of travel - whatever we call it, we have a vision because, if you don't have vision, you can't see where you are going."
