The 2008 honor marks the third consecutive Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®: National Benchmarks for Success award for Citizens Medical Center, a notable achievement considering the difficult standards hospitals must meet.
The Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals® award recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, according to bed size, teaching status, and residency program involvement. Within the comparison group, each hospital was ranked on the basis of its performance on key performance measures, then summed each hospital’s performance-measure ranking to arrive at a total ranking for each hospital.

* Medical Complications
* Patient Safety
* Average Length of Stay
* Expenses
* Profitability
* Cash to Debt Ratio
* Patient Satisfaction
* Adherence to Clinical Standards of Care
Marshall Wiener, M. D., Chief of Staff at Citizens Medical Center, said, "We are extremely proud to be honored by Thomson Reuters again this year. Our Medical Staff and caregivers work very hard to provide patients with the highest level of care possible, so to receive national recognition for their hard work is a real pat on the back".

Thomson Reuters is also launching the 100 Top Hospitals®: Everest Award for National Benchmarks 2008 to recognize those hospitals among the 100 Top winners that delivered the greatest rate of improvement over a five-year period. This marks the first time the 100 Top Hospitals® national benchmarks have been integrated with data reflecting long-term performance trends to identify the top-performing hospitals that are improving at the fastest rate. This year, there are twenty-three Everest award winners, and Citizens Medical Center is one of them! We are extremely proud of this achievement. |
