| Introducing Room Service at FCHC |

Patients at Fulton County Health Center can now say they’re receiving the “royal treatment” when they stay overnight at the Health Center. FCHC’s new Room Service Dining program, introduced on February 17th, allows patients to select their own menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. “It’s a patient-focused program that allows individuals to have input on the food they eat while staying at the Health Center,” says Paul Rosenbeck, FCHC Director of Food & Nutrition Services. “In the short time it has been in effect, patients have given us very positive comments.”
The Room Service program replaces the Health Center’s traditional system where a menu of food items was rotated on a 21-day basis. The patient had little or no opportunity to request specific foods. “Our Room Service program changes all of that,” says Rosenbeck. “We offer personally selected and individually prepared meals from a menu that patients are given.” Room service dining is available 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. by calling the Health Center phone number 3663 (FOOD). Food orders are verified to make sure they comply with the dietary instructions of the attending physician. “We want to make sure patients eat what they prefer as long as it doesn’t interfere with their doctor’s orders,” says Rosenbeck. “For example if a cardiac patient orders a cheeseburger, our dietitians will explain why that is not a good idea and will offer alternative menu suggestions.”
The Room Service Dining menu includes breakfast items as well as hot lunch and dinner entrees including oven-roasted turkey, beef pot roast with gravy, baked chicken breast, lemon baked tilapia, and spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce. Pizza, deli sandwiches, and grill selections are available with a variety of salads and side orders. Many of the menu items are heart healthy entrees. The traditional cafeteria food selections will still be available for family and friends as well as Health Center employees. |
