About Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust
Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust operates from three hospital sites in Amersham (Trust HQ), Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe. A wide range of high quality acute services are offered at all three sites, as well as some specialist services including:
• the National Spinal Injury Centre (Stoke Mandeville)
• burn care and plastics sub-regional centre (Stoke Mandeville)
• dermatology inpatient centre (Amersham).
Our 4,500 staff serve residents across Buckinghamshire, Thame (Oxfordshire), Tring (Hertfordshire) and Leighton Buzzard (Bedfordshire) - a combined population of 500,000. It serves a much larger population, 1.5m, for burns and plastic services and 14m for spinal injuries.
The needs of the patient always come first
What makes Buckinghamshire Hospitals different is our pledge to ensure that ‘The needs of the patient always come first’. This is embodied in our promises to provide our patients with clean and safe hospitals, a caring and helpful attitude, respect for their time, good access to comfortable modern facilities, and of course the best clinical care from top doctors and multi-professional teams.
Strong local partnerships
The Buckinghamshire Health Community is located within the boundaries of South Central Strategic Health Authority.
Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust is Buckinghamshire Hospital's lead commissioner, accounting for more than 60% of the Trust’s income. The two NHS organisations are co-terminus with the local authority, Buckinghamshire County Council, which facilitates comprehensive partnership arrangements and joint planning.
A good example of partnership working is the Local Safeguarding Childrens Board which is hosted by Bucks County Council. You can see our joint website here.
The website brings together information for children, young people and their families, as well as the professionals who work with them. It also provides an overview of the role and scope of the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Board.
