Established on the grounds of Berea College in 1898, Saint Joseph - Berea , a 25 bed critical care access hospital, serves the residents of Madison, Jackson, Rockcastle, Estill and Garrard counties. The hospital includes a fully staffed No Wait Emergency Department, Berea Family Medicine, Breast Center, Berea Specialty Clinic, Diabetes and Nutrition Center, Heart Institute, Rehabilitation Services, Sleep Wellness Center and Surgical Services. As of December 1, 2010, we have reinvented, redefined and recommitted our process and have introduced the No-Wait Emergency Room at Saint Joseph-Berea to better serve Madison County, Garrard County, Estill County, and surrounding areas.
The concept behind a No-Wait ER is to begin emergency care within five minutes of arrival. The triage process begins at the door. You are automatically seen by an ER nurse, who is authorized to begin treatment, according to your needs, within the first five minutes.
Physical and logistical changes have been made, from the first step you take through the front door till the minute you leave the department.
