As a vital part of the Atlanta community, Atlanta Memorial Hospital has been touching the lives of families, neighbors and friends since 1972. With the rapid changes in the delivery of medical care today, it is becoming increasingly important that those who benefit from these vital services and programs understand that they and Atlanta memorial Hospital are working together to provide the health care excellence which the local community deserves and has come to expect.
The hospital’s commitment to providing quality and compassionate health care has remained constant since in 1968 when the City of Atlanta created the Atlanta Hospital Authority for the expressed purpose of founding and developing a public hospital facility to meet the needs of the citizens of the Atlanta area.
Since opening its doors in 1972, Atlanta Memorial Hospital has grown into a modern, efficient and active community-oriented health care facility. Atlanta Memorial Hospital is a fully accredited hospital in Atlanta with a Level 4 Trauma Center, the first facility in Northeast Texas to receive this designation. In addition, AMH provides a brad range of medical, surgical Rehabilitation and emergency services. Services not available at the hospital are provided by an established referral system to some of the most outstanding physician specialists and medical centers in the ArkLaTex
During this time, the hospital has sought to meet the health care priorities of the growing community. The hospital serves as an indispensable part of this area’s economic development. It is an important contribution to what makes Atlanta a desirable place to live, raise a family and retire.
Because approximately one in four individuals in the surrounding area will receive medical services in the next year, almost every family in the area is affected by Atlanta Memorial Hospital’s commitment to high quality health care.
For example, Atlanta Memorial Hospital is a major employer in this area. The money spent by employees, as well as by friends and relatives who visit patients in the hospital, is significant.
Patient needs and community needs continue to be the driving motivation for the direction the hospital takes. A continuing long-range planning process is now focused on increasing technical support for patient diagnosis and treatment, and facility/ department renovations and improvements for increased efficiency and function. Meeting these long-range goals will allow Atlanta Memorial Hospital to continue to provide the highest possible patient care which allows the hospital to recruit, train and retain the best medical staff and technical and administrative personnel for the service area.
Atlanta Memorial Hospital provides comprehensive medical care with 65 licensed beds including: 49 acute care beds, 8 ICU beds and an 8-bed geriatric psychiatric unit.
In order to provide the highest level of care and continuity of care in the areas of pathology and radiology, Atlanta Memorial Hospital utilizes the same physician groups that provide service to the major hospitals in neighboring Texarkana.
To provide for the health needs of residents of Atlanta and Cass County, Atlanta Memorial Hospital continues to expand its range of services and programs both in the hospital and on an outpatient basis. The ultimate goal of Atlanta Memorial Hospital is to provide cost effective health related programs and services that are second to none in rural communities in Texas.
