About Suraj Eye Institute
I am pleased to welcome you to the Suraj Eye Institute. The Suraj Eye Institute is an Eye Foundation with a three point approach. 1. Quality eye care. 2. Technology and Science, 3. Community Eye Care. These constitute the core vision of the Institute. The Institute was founded on February 11th, 2002. We had the pleasure and grace of Dr. and Dr. Mrs. SS Badrinath who inaugurated the Institute. Dr. Vinay Nangia who trained in Britain, and Boston, wanted for several years to see the Institute come up and it did with the blessings, good will and trust of several partners none the least were the Rotarians of Holland. The Institute was built in New Colony, an area with an old world charm.
Why is the Suraj Eye Institute Special.
The Suraj Eye Institute was founded by Dr. Vinay Nangia. Dr. Nangia trained in Sankara Nethralaya, where he was a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon and then at Manchester University and at Harvard University. At Boston he did a prestigious fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Glaucoma and anterior segment.
The Institute strives to set a new standard in Nagpur a city of 3 million in the heart of India, by bringing in quality infrastructure, manpower, technology and science and by bringing global standards in eye care methods to the city of Nagpur. The Center soon established a reputation in the field of Glaucoma, Cataract and Retina providing outstanding care in these fields to patients and for the science and research that has been consistently performed at the Suraj Eye Institute.
The Institute in a span of 8 years has become known for its quality eye care, science and community eye care services. In addition it has reached out to the underserved in a proactive manner.
