In the present scenario, there has been an immense educational advancement in the educational world. To match this challenge, Mr. R.A. Chaudhary, a great reformist and an old scholar of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh under the auspices of A.I.M. Rehabilitation & Educational Society (Registered under S.R. Act 1860) established a college under the caption of ALIGARH UNANI & AYURVEDIC MEDICAL COLLEGE & ACN HOSPITAL, Aligarh in 1993 and this college is committed to provide a zealous and updated education in the line of medicine especially in Ayurveda and Unani pathies and impart education for degree courses of BAMS and BUMS since 1993 duly recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. By realizing its services to the National Stream, the U.P. Government has to accord its approval to allot the successful students out of CPMT since the current academic year.
The College is an autonomous non-profit making body situated opposite F.M. Tower Anoopshahar Road, Aligarh at the distance of 6 km from Aligarh Railway Station and 4 km from Aligarh Muslim University towards north on the Anoopshahar Road leading to Kasimpur Power House.
Aligarh is situated in the midest of Do-aba, the land between the Ganga and Yamuna Rivers at a distance of 130 km South-East of Delhi on the Delhi Howrah Rail National Track and on the Grand Trunk Road. The latitude is 27 54' N and longitude is 78 05 E. The climate is hot in summer and cold and dry in winter with intervening rainy season.
AUAMC has the privilege of serving the community with a full-fledged Hospital well equipped with ultra modern facilities. The College is committed to deliver quality education in the fields of Ayurvedic as well as Unani System of Medicine. The main target and motto of imparting education in Ayurved & Unani System of Medicines is to accord with its zealous mission of contributing to the National Stream of building a pool of competent professionals for development of Ayurved & Unani system in India and extend it to the whole world.
Why this college is different ? (In short span of about 14 years of its existence, the college has been able to pass out batches from 1993 to 2000 in both Ayurveda & Unani Faculties.) Further more the college has a prestigious seat of learning being selected for the allotment of successful candidates of CPMT amongst all private Medical Colleges of Ayurveda and Unani in Uttar Pradesh. The College has also been selected as NODAL Centre by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, for conducting its Examination.
The College has two separate faculties viz., Ayurveda & Unani. Both Indian Systems of Medicine have their own separate buildings, separate infrastructure, separate employees and the Principals and Faculty Members of high repute.
The covered area of Ayurved Faculty Building is about 36000 sq. ft. whereas uncovered area of the faculty is 16000 sq. ft. The Faculty building consisting of 6 huge classrooms of 1880 sq. ft. each alongwith its separate infrastructure and supporting staff.
The full-fledged fourteen Department of Studies are fully equipped with Ultra modern facilities and basic amenities as per the norms of the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi.
The covered area of Unani Faculty Building is 23200-sq. ft. whereas the uncovered area of the faculty is 15000 sq. ft. The faculty building consisting of 4 classrooms of 1800 sq.ft. each alongwith its own infrastructure and staff.
The College has following laboratories attached to the Ayurvedic Faculty /Unani Faculty: Anatomy Lab, Physiology Lab, Pathology Lab, Pharmaceutical Lab, Rog Nidan Lab, Panch Karma Lab, Dravya Gun Lab, Yoga Lab, Kshar Sutra Lab, Agad Tantra Lab & Computer Lab.
The college adopts the latest methods of interactive teaching. The class rooms are equiped with multi media projectors and O.H.P.. and other audio visual aids like through video cassettes and CD’s. in teaching of modern allopathic subjects by experience lecturers and expert doctors.
The College Library has more than 9700 Books, 780 Journals & about 1100 Magazines. In addition to Books & Journals, a wide range of reference materials, textbooks, news papers are subscribed to meet the needs of the students.
The Hostel Facilities available for boys and girl separately. The Hostel fee will be charged Rs. 36,000 per annum which includes the charges of fooding , lodging and transportation
The College has a wide-range Herbal Garden consisting more than 400 medicinal plants in addition to potted plants in huge quantity supported with a submersible pump to irrigate the huge area.
A well-equipped and ultra modern Hospital having 150 Beds is attached to the college. The OPD/IPD with distribution of free medicines is in full swing. The Hospital provides the services of the Ambulance, Ultra-sound, X-ray & other highly sophisticated Medical services. such as EEG, ECG, Nebulizer, Baby Incubator etc. at very reasonable charges to the society. The college gives desired weightage to computer education as well.
