About Bishop Auckland General Hospital
Bishop Auckland Hospital, opened in 2002, is a centre for planned care for a population of approximately 120,000 people across County Durham and Darlington.
It provides a specialist rehabilitation centre with high quality facilities, highly skilled nursing staff and experienced therapists. It is a centre of excellence in low-risk hip and knee replacement operations and a full range of outpatient and diagnostics is also provided for local patients.
In 2009, a new cataract centre and eye care unit was opened at the hospital delivering a full range of ophthalmology outpatient services including cataract surgery and the hospital also includes a midwifery led birth centre.
