St Tydfil's community & mental health hospital serves the Merthyr Tydfil population (although it also provides inpatient adult mental illness services for the Cynon Valley population) has 156 beds – 65 for general medical rehabilitation inpatient services, 38 adult mental illness beds including a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, 48 beds for older adults with mental illness and a day hospital for the elderly.
