Hexham General Hospital is near the town centre of Hexham.
Officially opened by the Prime Minister in January 2004 the state of the art £28 million hospital was designed by specialist healthcare architect American Jonathan Bailey. It replaces the original war-time emergency medical hospital and offers the population of Tynedale a stunning modern environment in which improved services and facilities can be provided.
A £3 million surgi-centre offers patients shorter waiting times for a range of operations including orthopaedics, general and laparoscopic surgery, ENT and urology.
Specialist services provided at Hexham include a fertility clinic and a nurse led chemotherapy service. The hospital has 98 inpatient beds, (74 of which are single rooms with en-suite bathrooms), 12 day case beds and four operating theatres.
