** About Us **
The Hilo Medical Center is the largest facility in the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation in addition to being one of the largest employers in Hilo. Established in 1897, the Hilo Medical Center has grown from a 10 bed hospital to the present facility of 279 licensed beds, including a 20 bed psychiatric unit, a separate 112 bed licensed extended care facility and an accredited home care agency. Also on site are the Liberty Dialysis Center, the Veteran’s Administration Community-Based Outpatient clinic, Hawaii Pacific Oncology Center, and Hawaii’s first State Veterans Home.
The Hilo Medical Center provides a complete range of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care services for residents and visitors of East Hawaii. Services include critical care, internal medicine, obstetrics, oncology, pediatrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery, ambulatory care, home care, psychiatric, and extended care services. Health education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and social services are also offered.
