History Of Adair County Memorial Hospital
** History **
For 61 years, Adair County Memorial Hospital has provided health care services to area residents, friends, and family members.
Our original hospital of 27 beds opened in 1950 along with the services of obstetrics, a nursery, surgery, inpatient care, lab and x-ray. To support these health care services was a dietary, laundry, maintenance, pharmacy, and administration. In the 1970’s, the first expansions to health care services were an emergency room and a radiology area. The East Wing was opened in 1988. This expansion contained the physical therapy area and an ambulance garage. In 1995, an elevator was built and necessary physical plant revisions were completed. In the late 1990’s, the hospital began administering the Adair County Home Care services. The home care staff received a 2005 award for their quality care achievements. In 2008 a large renovation and addition took place by the help of community members and grants. The Adair County Medical Clinic was added onto the current hospital. New state of the art patient rooms were added. The existing building was remodeled. With these changes, Cardiac Rehab was added to a service for Adair County Memorial Hospital.
