History Of Fremont Medical Center
** History of Fremont Medical Centers **
When he arrived in the Las Vegas Valley in 1975 J. Corey Brown, MD worked as an emergency room physician at Sunrise Hospital. From 1975 through 1985 Dr. Brown also worked simultaneously in the emergency rooms at Valley Hospital, Desert Springs and St. Rose de Lima serving as the Director of the Emergency Department at Valley Hospital from 1975-1985 and also at Desert Springs from 1978-1979.
During this time Dr. Brown became a well-known and well-respected physician in Las Vegas and established the valley's only lifesaving Flight for Life program serving as Medical Director from 1980 to 1984. He also was part owner of Doctors Emergency Medical Services that provided emergency room physicians for Valley Hospital.
Following his years of service as emergency room physician and his dedication to Flight for Life Dr. Brown opened his first medical center, aptly named Fremont Medical Center, in 1985. The building selected was the former J.C. Penny's department store presently located at the corner of Fremont Street and Sixth Street in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas.
Dr. Brown opened the center with three physicians serving approximately 125 patients per day. With his philosophy of serving patients with compassion and professionalism Fremont Medical Centers began to grow.
Dr. Brown added more physicians to the staff as well as a physical therapy department and eventually established his own practice on the second floor of the building while overseeing the Fremont Medical Center practice.
As the community continued to grow there became a need for a medical center on the west side of the valley. To accommodate this growth and demand Fremont Medical Centers opened its second facility, formerly located at Flamingo and Arville, in October of 1988. The successful medical center relocated to a brand new, state of the art center at the corner of Tropicana Avenue and Wynn Road in 1997.
Henderson was selected as the location for the third medial center, completed in 1995, to serve the soaring Henderson population. In an effort to serve our patients in the Northwest and also try to keep up with the healthcare demand and ever growing population, Fremont Medical Center expanded yet again by adding the fourth medical center in 1996. Demand and growth caused us to expand into a new state of the art building on Charleston Boulevard and Apple Drive.
In addition, Fremont Medical Centers also operates FIT (Fremont Inpatient Team). This is a team of physicians, experts in their field, dedicated to overseeing all Fremont Medical Center patients during their hospitalization in any one of the many hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley, offering our patients complete and total care throughout the duration of their hospital stay.
Today Fremont Medical Centers boasts over 60 highly skilled and professional physicians, in 8 locations, and is home to more than 400 employees serving more than 300,000 patients annually.
