About Children's Medical Center
** About Us **
Children's Medical Center Dallas is our system's main campus, located at 1935 Medical District Drive in the Southwestern Medical District in the heart of Dallas. It is home to the only academic healthcare system in North Texas dedicated exclusively to comprehensive care of children ages birth to 18.
Like our whole system, our downtown campus has been built with patients and families in mind. The campus offers families and visitor several amenities, including the tranquil Haggerty Chapel, a cafeteria with multiple dining options, family resource libraries, Starbucks coffee shops, ATMs and a full-service gift shop. Services such as child life, guest relations, pastoral care and social work help families address the unique concerns that come with having a hospitalized child.
A new front entrance at Children's makes it easier than ever for patients to access our state-of-the-art pediatric care. The covered four-lane driveway off Medical District Drive leads guests directly to the front doorstep of the hospital, only a few steps away from the admitting area.

History Of Children's Medical Center
Children's traces its origins to the summer of 1913 when a group of nurses, led by public health nurse May Forster Smith, organized an open-air clinic on the lawn of the old Parkland Hospital. The nurses recognized that children received better care when it was focused only on them.
The clinic grew into the Bradford Hospital for Babies, which merged with Children's Hospital of Texas and Richmond Freeman Memorial Clinic in 1948 to form Children's Medical Center of Dallas.
In 2008, we opened our Legacy campus in Plano to serve a greater number of patients in the area.
