Welcome to Community Memorial Healthcenter (CMH), a community owned nonprofit hospital that is dedicated to being the leader in health services for the south-central region of Virginia and portions of northern North Carolina. We offer quality, state-of-the-art healthcare in a convenient, friendly setting, a fact that is born out by our high patient satisfaction scores.
For over 55 years, the hospital’s employees, physicians, volunteers and board of directors have worked to fulfill our mission of providing excellence in the delivery of healthcare. Today, CMH is licensed for 284 beds and provides a wide array of in-patient services, including acute care, behavioral health, skilled and long-term care along with many outpatient programs such as dialysis, home health, hospice and many others. Since our inception, we have grown to be one of the area’s largest employers with over 800 employees, 200+ volunteers and 85 physicians, representing 30 medical specialties, on staff.

History Of Community Mem Healthcenter
Founded in 1954, Community Memorial Healthcenter (CMH) is a nonprofit health care facility operated by a voluntary, elected Board of Trustees. Planned and built by the people of Brunswick, Lunenburg and Mecklenburg Counties, CMH offers a full range of medical, surgical, and psychiatric services for residents of Southside Virginia or Northern North Carolina.
Our hospital is rooted in the vision and good work of the people of this region who wanted to have access to advanced healthcare closer to home. While advances are made every day in medicine, that guiding principle remains today. We are completely committed to delivering exceptional healthcare through the combination of people, process and technology.
