Kimberly Johnston, M.D., family practice physician, has been appointed to the Carroll Hospital Center Board of Directors.
Dr. Johnston is the first physician representative fully appointed by the board of directors as a result of a recent restructure of how members are appointed to the board. She also is the first to serve five, two-year terms, which began in September of this year. While there have always been physician representatives on the hospital board, the recent change in board protocol is based on current trends and best practice guidelines designed to give physicians additional and longer-term involvement at the board level.
Chosen from a slate of 11 physicians who were recommended by the hospital’s medical staff, Medical Executive Committee and hospital management team, Dr. Johnston will provide the board with strong leadership, a superior clinical perspective and a genuine connection to patients.
A member of the hospital’s medical staff for eight years and board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Johnston completed her undergraduate at McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College), and medical school, internship and residency at the University of Maryland. Her private practice is located in College Square in Westminster.
