The Mid-Atlantic Region’s top wheelchair athletes will compete in the 2009 Philadelphia Wheelchair Tennis Tournament on Aug. 29 from 8:30am till 5:00p.m at the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club.
The event draws wheelchair athletes from across the east coast, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland.
The Magee Wheelchair Tennis Team, sponsored by Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and hosts the tournament and sponsorship is provided by Magee Rehabilitation Hospital and the Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club
The region’s leading sponsor of sports and leisure activities for individuals with disabilities, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital offers wheelchair sports programs in tennis, rugby, basketball and power soccer. Magee has teamed with a number of local sports franchises to form the Magee Sixers Spokesmen wheelchair basketball team, the Magee Eagles wheelchair rugby team and the Magee Kixx power wheelchair soccer team. Teams are open to anyone in the community with a disability.
