Fraser Health Welcomes New Board Member |
Date : - 31/03/2009 |
SURREY – Fraser Health is pleased to announce that Arvinder Singh Bubber has been appointed to its Board of Directors by the Province of British Columbia effective March 21, 2009. Bubber replaces Arthur Tymos, who completed his term of office.
“On behalf of the Board, I would sincerely like to extend our appreciation to Arthur Tymos for the contribution and commitment he provided to Fraser Health over the past three years as a member of our Board,” said Gordon Barefoot, Fraser Health’s Board Chair.
Arvinder Bubber spent 15 years working with various levels of government in Canada before relocating to Vancouver in 1991. He was recently appointed as the First Chancellor for Kwantlen Polytechnic University and is a chartered accountant operating his own practice, A.S. Arvinder & Associates. In his role as a new Board member, Bubber will support Fraser Health as it continues to pursue innovative, effective and sustainable strategies to improve the health of the population and the quality of life of the people it serves.
“We are honoured to have Arvinder Bubber join our Board and bring his knowledge to the vital role our Board plays on behalf of the patients, clients and residents in the communities we serve,” said Barefoot. “We look forward to working closely with him and benefiting from his insights as the newest member of Fraser Health’s Board.”
Bubber was named Vice-Chair for the Premier’s Asia Pacific Trade Council in 2005 and was appointed to Simon Fraser University’s Presidential Advisory Council on India in 2006. He has an undergraduate degree in the faculty of science from the University of Punjab in India.
Fraser Health’s Board consists of nine Directors appointed by the B.C. Minister of Health Services. The Board functions as Fraser Health’s governing body and oversees the conduct of the organization’s business through the Executive Committee, which is responsible for day-to-day operations.
Fraser Health provides a wide range of integrated health services to the largest and fastest growing population in B.C. The health authority is committed to improving the health of the population and the quality of life of more than 1.5 million people living in communities from Burnaby to White Rock to Hope.
