All Smiles As Luton Tops The Dental League |
Date : - 22/09/2010 |
NHS Luton’s dental services remain top of the regional rankings according to the latest results just released by the East of England Strategic Health Authority. Each month, primary care trusts (PCTs) are measured on their performance against the predicted number of new NHS patients going to the dentist. Patients classed as ‘new to NHS dentistry’ are those who haven’t visited an NHS dentist for two years or more.
NHS Luton dental services have shown a month-on-month improvement since September 2009, and have held the top spot since December 2009. This is further evidence that NHS Luton as a whole is one of the fastest improving health organisations nationally.
NHS dentists in Luton are expected to see 56 per cent of the population on a rolling two year programme. Current figures show that 54 per cent of Luton people had been seen at the end of June 2010, with dentists working extremely hard to increase the numbers in the next few months.
Keith Edmunds, NHS Luton’s director of commissioning, puts the success down to good old fashioned teamwork: “I have no doubt that one of the major reasons for this success is the excellent working relationships between PCT staff and local dentists. We agree plans and discuss any problems along the way openly and honestly. It’s about teamwork; we’re all on the same side to provide the best dental service for Luton that we can.”
Luton has no shortage of NHS dentists and there is no need to register. To find a dentist, consider asking friends and family for a recommendation, click Services or call the dental hotline on 01582 532022.
