Hospital to home Postnatal Study |
Date : - 15/01/2008 |
The Maternity Unit at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is taking part in an important new research project being led by the Centre for Research in Midwifery and Childbirth based at Thames Valley University.
The study, funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing, will look at what women expect and need from their postnatal care and will enable us to provide better care to prepare mothers for the transfer home.
The women who will be eligible to take part in the study will be those who give birth between January 2008 and March 2008. The mothers will be asked to fill in two questionnaires, one ten days after the birth of their child and the second three months after the birth. From these we hope to see how we can improve their experiences of care after birth.
Research Midwife Val Rose says "We want to see if we can offer a more modern way of helping mothers recover from the birth and support them in the care of their new born baby"
"We are very excited about the study and look forward to working with the team at Thames Valley University."
