2009 garden walk/art fair planning underway after successful year |
Date : - 12/07/2009 |
Planning for the 2009 garden walk and art fair, co-sponsored by the St. Agnes Hospital Foundation and Agnesian HealthCare Volunteers, is already underway as six new gardens are being finalized and other plans are in full progress.
The 2009 garden walk is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009.
Garden walk organizers are building upon the success of the 2008 event, which drew more than 1,000 people to six beautiful gardens, and raised more than $11,000 to support the Agnesian HealthCare Community Care Fund.
The 2008 event featured the gardens of Dr. Ann Sosalla, 188 15th Street, Fond du Lac; Gary and Joy Sina, 1012 South Park Avenue, Fond du Lac; Mike and Karen Anderson, W3929 Bittersweet Lane, St. Peter; Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes, 320 County Road K, Fond du Lac; Duane and Mary Stibb, N8296 Sunset Drive, St. Peter; and Dr. Dave and Laurie Pieper (also the location of the Garden Art Fair), N7951 Fairfield Drive, St. Peter.
“We are fortunate to receive so much community support for this annual fund-raiser,” says Rita Meidam, St. Agnes Hospital Foundation senior Community Affairs associate, “especially from those individuals who warmly invited us into their beautiful gardens. We appreciate their efforts in helping us achieve this success.”
Art fair vendors helped to support the overall success by donating a portion of their proceeds, including Dick’s Concessions, The Lightsmith, Stuart’s Landscaping and Waldenbooks.
Agnesian HealthCare Volunteers organized their first garden walk in 1996 in celebration of St. Agnes Hospital’s centennial.
The 2008 garden walk was coordinated by committee members: Mona Eiring, Donna Harbridge, Jennifer Hawley, Renee Herrick, Ramona Huempfner, Gwen Loomans, Cecilia Lozano, Terry Mabee, Karen Martin, Rita Meidam, Carol Sadler, Sandi Smet, Sharon Stoffel and Marjean Urban.
