Date : - 30/11/-0001 |
Alpena Regional Medical Center welcomes Dr. Hasan Basheera, a family practitioner specializing in surgical obstetrics, to the Alpena area. She joins Drs. Richard Bates, Christa Williams and Certified Nurse-midwife, Bonnie Bartz at Alcona Health Services – Alpena.
Dr. Basheera attended medical school at Kilpauk Medical School in India. She completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Kasturba Medical College, an urban Indian hospital. She was an obstetrician at New Century Medical Center, Madras for several years before becoming the Chief Medical Officer in the Department of OB/Gyn at Public Health Center in Madras, India. After immigrating to the US, Dr. Basheera did Research Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and completed a Family Medicine Residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, Maine. Thereafter she did an Obstetrics Fellowship at Greater Lawrence Family Medicine, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
"My goal from day one of training has been to work with the under served population. The words Need and Want go well together. There is a need for physicians and I want to work here," said Basheera. "It is a privilege to work in a great community like Alpena." Dr. Basheera is looking forward to working in Alpena and especially loves the combination of family medicine with obstetrics at the Alcona Health Center. "Obstetrics is my passion. Nothing can replace the pleasure of bringing a baby into the world," adds Basheera.
While not working, Dr. Basheera enjoys the water, hiking, gardening and the company of animals. "I love to cook - that is my other passion! I enjoy feeding anyone who is willing to try!" said Basheera.
