Alice Hyde Medical Center employees recently enjoyed a fun-filled day of golf at the Alice Hyde “Tee-rrific Employee Golf Tournament” at the Highland Greens Golf Course in Brushton. The non-fundraising event brought many employees from different departments together for the game, great prizes, food, and fellowship with their co-workers.

** HEALTH FAIR DRAWS A BIG CROWD **
September 19, 2008
Alice Hyde Medical Center helped to “Take Health Care to New Heights” at this year’s Health Fair, which drew approximately 2,000 visitors to the Franklin County Fairgrounds.
It was a beautiful day for the community to come out and join Alice Hyde Medical Center and area health, civic, and business organizations at the 2008 health fair. The health fair, sponsored by the Medical Center, hosted 82 exhibitors some of which included representatives from AHMC departments and community agencies, including staff from the Medical Center’s Family Maternity Center, Dr. Noel Varghese, OB/GYN, the Hastings Hemodialysis Unit, Nutritional Services, the Reddy Cancer Treatment Center, BOCES New Visions Program, Adirondack Region Chiropractic, Towle Family Chiropractic, Walgreens, Wholistic Care, North Country Community College, the Greater Malone YMCA, and many others. “We could not have done this alone—all of the participating businesses and health and social service agencies played an integral role in making the health fair a success,” said John Johnson, AHMC President/CEO.
Community members were able to receive free health related information, demonstrations, and screenings from AHMC and several local health and community service agencies. Hundreds of people had free screenings for cholesterol, glucose, kidney function, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Child Audiology, and HIV screenings, as well as blood type and pressure checks.
The health fair had a wide variety of information and fun activities for all ages. Several community agencies offered services for Senior Citizens, there were free tethered hot-air balloon rides, a walk-through hot-air balloon, great give-a-ways, concessions, and children enjoyed a bounce house, giant slide, and face painting.
AHMC’s exhibits showcased new medical technology, from dialysis treatment to medical imaging, as well as services and demonstrations by the AHMC Rehabilitation Center staff, nutritional information, diabetes education, infection prevention information and much more. COPS-CARE, Inc., provided abduction registration and training, which include child I.D. and fingerprints, as part of their Abduction Awareness Program, sponsored by the New York State Police Association. The AHMC Auxiliary was also present to accept unused and/or outdated over-the-counter and prescription medications for disposal—with the oversight of Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy, Justin Bannon.
