- Wi-Fi Access Now Available to All Patients and Visitors -
CHILLICOTHE – Patients and families are now more connected than ever at Adena Health System’s Chillicothe and Greenfield campuses. Adena announced today the availability of free Wi-Fi, or wireless Internet access, to patients and visitors throughout its main Chillicothe location and at Greenfield Area Medical Center. Individuals will now be able to access the Internet to check their e-mail or just surf from their laptops while sitting in waiting areas or patient rooms.
"We want our patients and guests to have the best experience possible," said Mark Shuter, CEO. "Providing patients and visitors with the ability to check their e-mail while on our campus helps them stay connected with friends, family and work,” he noted.
“Over the past few years, we’ve increased the complexity of the services we provide – open heart surgery, minimally invasive hip replacements and so on – so people are coming to Adena from farther away and spending more time here. Providing free Internet access is one way we can make a hospital visit a little more like home.”
The wireless system, which was brought online two weeks ago, has undergone extensive testing to ensure reliability and safety for users. To log on, guests simply need to turn on their wireless network card and select the “AdenaPublic” option. Guests will then be able to access the Internet, with some restrictions on content to ensure a family friendly environment. The AdenaPublic network runs independent of other Adena networks to ensure the safety and confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
Adena intends to extend the service to other regional offices and service sites in the near future.
