This collaborative program between Brook Lane and Hagerstown Community College is funded in part by the William B. and Sylvia A. Hunsberger Fund.
The program will be held in the Kepler Theater at Hagerstown Community College from 8:00 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illnesses among children and adults. The United States Department of Health and human Services estimates about 13 of every 100 children and adolescents ages 9 to 17 experience some kind of anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders among adults ages 18 to 54 exceed 16 percent with a significant overlap or comorbidity with mood and substance abuse disorders.
This 4-hour seminar, presented by the staff of Brook Lane, will discuss the signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders, diagnostic/DSM criteria, treatment options, risk factors, coexisting conditions and offer strategies for managing and preventing recurrent anxiety.
Professional continuing education credits will be provided for social workers, psychologists, counselors, therapists, nurses and nurse practitioners.
