Community Hospital’s radiology department has been awarded a threeyear term of accreditation in nuclear medicine, mammographic imaging, computed tomography (CT) and MRI as the result of a recent survey by
the American College of Radiology. Mammographic imaging has been ACR accredited since 1999.
“Community Hospital’s voluntary efforts to complete the lengthy, rigorous process to become ACR accreditation demonstrates our commitment to
quality patient care and provides a level of confi dence for patients and referring physicians that the highest quality of care is provided by our facility,” stated Dr. Todd Hegstrom, radiologist. “The ACR certification gives assurance that the staff and equipment have passed ACR’s meticulous evaluation.”
The ACR headquartered in Reston, VA, awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review
evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the fi eld. They assess the qualifi cations of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine
and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health services.
Community Hospital is the only facility in western Colorado to have ACR accreditation for mammography, computed tomography (CT), MRI, and nuclear medicine. |
