| New York Hospital Queens Pediatricians Rally for “Fit Kids” |

A team of pediatricians from New York Hospital Queens joined fitness guru Richard Simmons and City Council Member Tony Avella on the steps of City Hall today in support of a City Council resolution calling on the United States Congress to improve standards for physical education through the FIT Kids Act. The federal legislation is designed to improve standards for physical education of children and adolescents.
Three years ago to address the growing problem of childhood obesity, New York Hospital Queens established a “Fit Kids” program through the department of pediatrics. The program teaches children, adolescents and their parents the benefits of healthy living through proper diet and exercise.
