Three Additional Neonatologists Join Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital Medical Staff |

Three new neonatologists recently joined the Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital Medical Staff, making the medical staff of 10 the largest neonatal physician practice in Northwest Florida.
Dr. C. Tony R. Hampton, Dr. Nathan Knutson, and Dr. Drifa Freysdottir, all of Pediatrix Medical Group, will join the seven current neonatologists at Sacred Heart in caring for the premature and critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Dr. Hampton received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Ky., and he completed both his residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in biomedical informatics.
Dr. Knutson received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga., and he completed his internship and residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatology at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Freysdottir received her medical degree from the University of Iceland in Reykjavik, Iceland, and she completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Connecticut at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Harford, Conn. In addition, she completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Institutions in Houston, Texas. Dr. Freysdottir is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
