About George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services
** About Us **
The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is a single site hospital on the outskirts of Nuneaton, Warwickshire and is registered, and therefore licensed to provide services, by the Care Quality Commission (Provider ID: RLT). For more information, visit www.cqc.org.uk .
We provide a range of traditional district general hospital health services including medical, surgical and maternity care. However, the hospital’s management and clinical teams are committed to delivering the Department of Health’s vision to provide care closer to people’s homes and are currently developing an exciting strategy for the future of the hospital and the way it provides care to local people.
We serve a population of approximately 250,000 from the surrounding areas of Nuneaton and Bedworth, North Warwickshire, South West Leicestershire and Northern Coventry and work closely with other hospitals for services like cancer, pathology and coronary heart disease, amongst others. The hospital also provides some services such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy in the community.
In recognition of the hospital’s teaching, the Trust secured external funding for a state-of-the-art £5.5m Training and Education Centre which opened in October 2006.
The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is determined to improve the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of care, and meet the growing expectations of our patients and public.
The hospital is named after the author George Eliot (born Mary Ann Evans) who was born and lived locally for many years. Many of the wards and departments are named after characters and places in her books.
** Mission **
Our mission is to improve the health and well being of our local communities by providing excellent services to meet their healthcare needs, as close to home as possible, through innovation and collaboration with professional health and social care partners.
Our vision is that the George Eliot NHS Foundation Trust will be a commercially vibrant organisation that exceeds expectation through excellent provision of local services tailored to individual need.
We will achieve this by transforming our services to deliver care in the right place, right time with the right skills available. This will lead us to re-shape our hospital and provide more services in the community, supporting people at home and encouraging them to change their life style to improve their health and well being and present earlier with illness.
