Baptist Nassau has a busy maternity department delivering over 450 babies per year. Inpatient pediatric care is provided by Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, our sister hospital in the Baptist Health System, and the only pediatric specialty hospital in the area.
The medical staff includes highly trained physicians in 24 different specialties who practice locally, and as part of the Baptist Health System, Baptist Nassau has access to many additional specialized physicians, services, and resources when needed.
History Of Baptist Medical Center-Nassau
Thanks to a growth spurt that occurred in Fernandina in the late 1930s, a full-service hospital opened in Fernandina in 1942. The hospital, like the community, has made great strides since then. In the late 1970s, it moved to its current location at Lime Street and South 18th Street. In 1994, it joined Baptist Health, a not-for-profit, comprehensive health system based in Jacksonville that is considered one of the most progressive and respected in the region.
