History Of St Joseph Hospital

St. Joseph Healthcare is in existence because of the sponsorship of the Felician Sisters of the Enfield, Connecticut Province. It is an extended ministry of Christ’s healing and mercy. The St. Joseph Healthcare ministry is rooted in the tradition of our Foundress Blessed Mary Angela’s vision of spirituality – renewing society through compassionate caring of the whole person in all circumstances.

In 1855 in Warsaw, Poland, Blessed Angela founded the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Felix. The Order thrives today through the thousands of Felician Sisters who carry on Blessed Angela’s tradition of active community service around the world. Today, seven Felician Sisters grace St. Joseph Healthcare with their presence, working in various capacities. The Sisters are a living legacy of Blessed Angela’s vision and are ever present within the hospital to offer guidance and to minister to all people: patients, families, employees and volunteers.
