About Bon Secours Baltimore System
The Mission of Bon Secours Baltimore Health System (BSBHS) is to help people and communities to health and wholeness by providing compassionate, quality health care and being good help to all in need in west Baltimore, with special concern for the poor and dying.
At the heart of the Mission of BSBHS are our eight core values: Respect, Justice, Integrity, Stewardship, Innovation, Compassion, Quality and Growth.
The Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours was founded in Paris, France in 1824 after the French Revolution. Throughout their history, the Sisters of Bon Secours have been committed to administering quality compassionate health care to anyone in need throughout the world. Today, their health care ministries are located in Ecuador, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Peru and the United States.
In 1919, the Sisters of Bon Secours opened their first Bon Secours Hospital in the United States right here on West Baltimore Street in Baltimore City, where it continues to flourish today. The Congregation’s Motherhouse is located in Paris, France; and the United States Provincial House is located in Marriottsville, Maryland, along with the Bon Secours Spiritual Center where religious retreats are held.
Today Bon Secours Hospital has 125 acute care beds and our approach to community health reaches beyond the traditional model of health care. Patients and communities are cared for holistically with traditional acute-care services along with an array of ambulatory and community services.
Tele-Heart, a state-of-the-art home health monitoring program for patients with congestive heart disease, Renal Dialysis, Mental Health, Physical Therapy and Drug Treatment are among the comprehensive programs available to patients.
Partnering with many organizations, Bon Secours has built affordable housing for seniors and has renovated close to 200 attractive apartments for families. The community also enjoys an array of youth and adult empowerment services. Bon Secours, with its reputation of providing compassionate quality care, is on the "front line" of helping patients and communities achieve wellness.
