Philadelphia, PA, July 8, 2009 - Mary Beth Kingston, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, Chief Nurse Executive for Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, has been selected a Fellow of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation® (RWJF) Executive Nurse Fellows' Program. Ms. Kingston is one of only twenty nurses nationwide selected for this three-year leadership program.

The program, which focuses on expanding the role of nurses to facilitate change in the country's health care system, provides leadership development for nurse executives in public or community health, science and research, corporate health, academia, government or military health service. Ms. Kingston joined Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in 2004 as Chief Nurse Executive. She is responsible for providing leadership and management direction for 1,200 nurses within Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, which consists of Albert Einstein Medical Center (a major teaching hospital), MossRehab (a rehabilitation center), Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment (a private, psychiatric hospital), Willowcrest (a restorative care facility), Willow Terrace (a long-term care facility), and Community Practice Plan (a community health center).

"I am honored to have been selected by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as an Executive Nurse Fellow and feel very fortunate that senior leaders at Einstein Healthcare Network are in full support of my participation," said Ms. Kingston. "I look forward to bringing new skills and resources to the patients we serve.

Ms. Kingston's professional interests are patient-family centered care, ethical decision-making, and the role of nursing in improving access to quality healthcare. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from West Chester State University, West Chester, PA, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Health Policy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Ms. Kingston is certified as a Nurse Executive, Advanced. She has served on nursing and healthcare organizations' board of directors, including the Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Association of Critical Care Nurses. In 2007, she was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing Administration.

The fellowship is supported through a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and matching funds from Albert Einstein Healthcare Network.
