| Teal Magnolias Tea celebrates Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month |

In honor of National Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, Hendrick Cancer Center, Journey Guides and WHIMS (Women’s Hope Inspires More Survivors) are hosting a Teal Magnolias Tea Friday, September 25 from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Auxiliary Conference Center, second floor Shelton Building, 2000 Pine Street.
This is the third year for the Teal Magnolias Tea. The goal of the tea is to celebrate cancer survivors and raise awareness of gynecological cancers and women’s health issues. All cancer survivors, family members, friends and others concerned are invited to attend.
A program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Speakers include: Whitney Mascorro, MD, from Abilene Women’s Health Professionals, on the topic of prevention, screening, and early detection of cervical and ovarian cancer, and Damini Desai, MS, CGC, genetic counselor from Joe Arrington Cancer Research & Treatment Center, on the topic of preventative medicine with the BRCA 1 and 2 gene mutations.
The tea also features booths from Taylor County Health Department, The Alliance for Women and Children, Cancer Services Network, Hendrick Cancer Center Learning Center, American Cancer Society, Myriad Genetics, Hope and Healing Ministries, Journey Guides, Vera West Women’s Center and WHIMS. Attendees will have to opportunity to enter into a drawing for several door prizes.
