| “Lite It Up Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness |

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)–October is breast cancer awareness month and Lite 96.9 WRSA has teamed up with Century Automotive, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and Huntsville Hospital to “Lite It Up Pink”. The goal for the initiative’s second year is to sell 10,000 pink light bulbs all to provide potentially life-saving equipment for women all over the Tennessee Valley.
Last year’s initiative raised $10,000 and provided cutting edge enhancements for the mammography machines at the Huntsville Hospital Breast Center.
”This year,” says Huntsville Hospital Foundation‘s Anna Manning, “funds raised will also help Madison Hospital get their own breast mammography machines, so we’re really excited about that.”
The Space and Rocket Center will even illuminate the Saturn V in a blushy hue for the entire month of October.
Tracy Jones of Century Automotive has been active in breast cancer awareness for more than a decade. She calls “Lite It Up Pink” a fun and easy way to help the cause.
“It’s reminding us to do our mammograms,” says Jones, “it’s reminding us that it does take money to fund research and to buy the equipment and that this money raised through ‘Lite It Up Pink’ will stay local right here for Huntsville women.” |
