Built in 1964 by Tipton County, the hospital joined Baptist Memorial Health Care in 1981. Since then, two physicians' office buildings were completed in 1983 and in 1993, and additional construction has increased the hospital's beds to 100.
To continue to meet patient needs, Baptist Tipton completed construction of a surgery center in 1997 and 1998, consisting of four operating rooms and two additional surgery procedure rooms. Cardiac rehab services also became available in 1999 enabling patients to receive rehab locally. In 2001, the hospital expanded its radiology department by adding two new chest X-ray rooms and a mammography room.
A new sleep disorders lab opened in the hospital in 1999. The new lab has a full-size hospital bed and is decorated to more closely resemble a patient's bedroom at home. In 2000, a new six-bed observation unit was opened, equipped with centralized monitoring systems. The systems provide a consolidated unit which allows us to monitor patients for up to 24 hours.
