Latest figures show NHS Camden is in good health |
Date : - 20/10/2009 |
NHS Camden’s use of resources has been rated as among the best in the country following rigorous assessment by independent regulators.
This has helped NHS Camden achieve an overall rating of ‘good’ from the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC’s) annual health check published today (Wednesday 14 October).
Dr Mark Atkinson, Chief Executive of NHS Camden said: “These ratings are testament to the excellent work of all staff and I know we will all continue to work hard to make NHS Camden the best it can be.
“I am particularly pleased that we are in the top quarter in the country for use of resources because this is one of the most important ways we provide quality for our patients. Providing a wealth of services for good value for money is a top priority for us.
“We pride ourselves on high standards, and we will use the Care Quality Commission’s report to improve further in the coming year and ensure local people get the high quality services they deserve.”
CQC is England’s health watchdog and awards the rating for two aspects of the organisation. Both the quality of commissioning and the quality of financial management were described as ‘good’ in their report on NHS Camden for 2008/2009.
The health check is a comprehensive assessment of NHS performance, covering aspects such as waiting times, management, use of resources, and quality of public health services.
For example, NHS Camden has met all the standards for ‘safety and cleanliness’, and for ‘dignity and respect’ for patients, which includes having correct processes for safeguarding children, handling medicines, and treating people as individuals.
